Sci Fest Monaghan workshops for Children: 9^th July – 13^th July

Week of Science based arts & crafts workshops in all of our 5 branch libraries as follows

• Monaghan = Monday 9^th July; Carrickmacross = Tuesday 10^th July; Castleblayney = Wednesday 11^th July; Ballybay = Thursday 12^th July; Clones = Friday 13^th July
• Each workshop will last 2 hours; 10.00am – 12.00pm for 6-8 year olds and 1.30-3.30pm for 9-12 year olds

6-8 Year olds workshops will involve the following activities:

• Paper parachutes – how to design and test with various weights;
• MotionOcean
• Finger printing
• Demonstration of a live circuit and match the answers quiz

9-12 year old workshops will involve the following activitites:

• Paper parachutes – how to design and test with various weights;
• Puffy painting
• Make a toy car – design and test various ramps and surfaces
• Invisible ink task
• Demonstration of a live circuit and match the answers quiz

Monaghan Goes Science Quiz Crazy:

• Each week during the month of July, we will run a science based competition in the local newspaper in the following categories (a) Primary school children (b) Secondary school Children (c) Adults.
• There will be a prize for each winner in each category each week such as a science book, voucher to a Science based Museum etc.
