Planet Ocean and UCD Imagine Science & Science Foundation Ireland Film Awards

Planet Ocean, directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot in partnership with OMEGA is a 90-minute documentary, which draws on the talents of some of the world’s leading aerial and underwater cinematographers, oceanographers and biologists. Created to change the way people look at the oceans and to encourage sea conservation and stewardship as responsibilities shared by everyone on Earth.

Planet Ocean also aims to explain some of the planet’s greatest natural mysteries and allows young people to imagine that a more sustainable world is not only desirable, but achievable. Filmed by an award winning team of cameramen, the film combines the kind of breath-taking aerial shots that have made Arthus-Bertrand’s film-making reputation. Screened in partnership with Ambassade de France and Tara Oceans Expedition, whose scientific experts and the knowledge they had accumulated on previous voyages contributed to the making of the film.

Planet Ocean received its World Premiere at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro the JUNE 19th 2012 and we are delighted to host the second public screening in Dublin as the closing film of UCD Imagine Science Film Festival 2012.

Screening is followed by the announcement of UCD Imagine Science & Science Foundation Ireland Film Awards.
