Programme of Events

The IFI would like to mark the Dublin City of Science 2012 celebrations with a workshop programme that will give different audience groupings the opportunity to engage with the culture, science and technology of film and moving image. Through identifying various aspects of filmmaking and related media technologies, participants will have the chance to interact with filmmakers, artists and workshop facilitators, learning more about their work but also how they themselves can creatively respond.

Family Festival Workshops July 2012

‘Light Entertainment’:

Digital Mapping and Projection with MIDAspaces. Merging art and science and using new and exciting technology, participants will illustrate, design and project an animated light sculpture. The professional digital artist facilitators will give participants a brief introduction to some of the technology used to create these sculptures.

‘Make Some Noise!’:

A practical and illustrated journey through film soundtracks with a professional musician. Participants will learn what makes a good soundtrack, how is atmosphere created, and then compose and perform their own piece.
