The Sugar Club will host avant-garde science shots from around the world in a hub of Dublin’s social and cultural life.
The Sugar Club is a former cinema where Burmese teak panels cover the walls of the auditorium with the tiered plush velvet banquettes replacing the old cinema seating. A state of the art digital projector and high-end sound system give the best possible viewing and listening experience for performer and public alike. This is a fun environment to watch stunning science shorts, kick back to explore science from the early days of celluloid to current visionary works.
Science has been the inspiration for imaginative and entertaining films from directors such as Georges Melies’ La Voyage dans la Lune (1902) and Jacques Tati’s M. Hulot’s Holiday (1953). Avant Garde Science will explore the influence of these pioneers on contemporary science films. Join us on the journey while enjoying a full bar in the heart of Dublin’s social scene.
