Science and stamps – a glimpse at scientific people and themes on Irish postage stamps
The An Post Museum in Dublin’s historic GPO explores the influence of the Post Office in Irish society from the days of mail coaches via the development of the telegraph and telephone to the Easter Rising of 1916 and the sophisticated postal sorting technology of today. To mark Dublin’s role as City of Science this year, a few Irish stamps with a specifically scientific theme – the invention of the telephone perhaps or the Nobel laureate Ernest Walton – have been selected for display in the Museum.
Museum admission ticket: €2
