Theatre Lovett present ‘A Man in Half’
A national tour of ‘A Man in Half’; a gripping drama of suspense, terror and humour. Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, this one man play for 9-14 year olds questions Stevenson’s assumption that, in a struggle between good and evil, it is always the evil in us that will triumph.
We encounter the brilliant clinician and chemist Dr. Malachy, whose experiments on himself need witnesses. He calls on the audience to observe closely, report accurately, make hypotheses and watch him as he acts on their conclusions. It is a powerful and playful introduction to the scientific method – a curious experiment that will challenge the core of his being, revealing his chequered history, and his fatal flaw.
