WHAT IS THE SECRET TO OUR HAPPINESS?

In spite of our financial woes, Irish people are still among the happiest in Europe according to recent research. How is this possible? Is it true that money doesn’t buy happiness? How can neuroscience and psychology help us discover the root of happiness? HAPPY is delivered in partnership with Trinity College’s School of Psychology, celebrating its 50th anniversary

From April to June 2012, Trinity College School of Psychology presents:

“Happy? – Wellbeing across the lifespan: 50 years of Trinity College School of Psychology” at the Science Gallery Dublin.

This event is a national exploration of the factors that shape happiness and how these intersect with culture, innovation, health, creativity, ageing, entrepreneurship and social cohesion. Ireland has had the most severe economic recession of any advanced country, yet the Irish are near top of the world ranking in reported wellbeing and charitable generosity. It will be made up of three elements; an interactive lab, an SMS probe of wellbeing levels, and an intervention using therapeutic texts. Attendees will participate in scientific research at the interactive ‘Lab in the Gallery’ at the Science Gallery Dublin from April to June. The SMS probe and intervention using therapeutic texts will take place throughout the year for those who wish to participate.
