ActivAge 2012

How will technology shape our lives in older age? Will robots help keep us independent and at home? Will houses be intelligent enough to monitor our wellbeing? Will we need fewer visits to the doctor, with medical services being provided remotely? Will mobile apps keep us connected with friends and family and computer games help keep us well and fit?

And importantly, will we actually want these new technologies? Can engineers design technology we will really need and like as older people? And can we have any control on shaping the technology that will impact on our lives as older people?

ActivAge 2012 brings together engineers, designers, artists and older people in the community in a public engagement process to present, challenge, inform, debate these questions.

ActivAge opens with a screening of the documentary movie ‘Squeeze me: cuddly robots in dementia” at the Science Gallery at 18:00 on Friday. Nov. 2rd and continues with the ActivAge 2012 seminar at the Guinness Storehouse on Saturday Nov 3rd 9:30-16:30
